Jen’s class can be described as pure energy. Come try a class with her great energy and spirit!
Tory Raith
Tory is one of the owners of Spynergy. Her love of indoor cycling began over 15 years ago. She loves the music, the people, and the energy that happens in a rockin’ class! Her goal in the class is to first and foremost have fun, work at your own pace but always challenge yourself. Tory believes that we create change by stepping outside our comfort zone to cross our personal finish lines. Once the endorphins get going, she may take her classes to 70 minutes if there isn’t a class immediately following!
Shane Edwards
Shane Edwards is a certified personal trainer, bicycle & cardio coach, and Pilates instructor who has been teaching Spinning for over 10 years. Born in Australia, growing up in the D.C. area, then moving to Chicago in ’87, Shane has been riding a bicycle since Steely Dan’s ‘Can’t Buy A Thrill’ was released. The goal of his classes is to provide the students with a sound experience that meshes seamlessly with the work of riding a bike. “Exercising to songs that like to be around each other, strengthening body and soul… with a dose of euphoria on top. Nice way to start the day.”
JP Bordeleau
Running led JP to Adventure Racing, which introduced him to Indoor cycling. After taking indoor cycling classes for 2 years as training for his multi day adventure races, JP thought it would be fun to try teaching. Seven years later JP continues to teach multiple classes all over the North Shore. When JP isn’t riding or running around Chicago you can probably find him in a rink as JP is the head coach of the Loyola Maroon Varstiy hockey team and the Director of the Evanston Travel Hockey Program. JP is also a certified personal trainer. JP likes to create the feeling that you are on the road with him in one of his wild races. His music spans all generations and usually includes lots of hills as there aren’t many in the North Shore!
Nancy Chase
Nancy has been teaching at Spynergy for 6 Years. She is an an avid skier and has recently acquired a passion for snow shoeing. Nancy also maintains a floral business, Fill it with Flowers for the last 15 years. She travels around the country attending and teaching flower arranging workshops and classes. ”I love to teach spinning! My goal is to help the riders at Spynergy achieve their personal conditioning goal while thinking positively and living young!”
Sue Gelber
Sue started spinning over a decade ago for cross training, and although a skeptic at first, she soon found herself hooked. She’s an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete, as well as a reluctant swimmer and bad yoga practitioner. She writes a fitness column for the Winnetka Patch and can be found blogging about her athletic misadventures at www.outsidethecomfortzone.com. Her cycling classes tend to be fast-paced, probably because she is trying to compensate for being such a slow rider on her road bike, or maybe because whether riding indoors or out, she just doesn’t like hills. However, in the end, it’s all about the music, whatever the pace.
Sean O’Grady
Sean is a health care executive who has been teaching Spinning for more than 10 years. Father of 4, Sean originally began Spinning to lose a large Irish beer gut, and found the sport triathlon through the spinning journey. Sean has completed a half ironman and as well as a couple of Triathlons. Sean’s classes always include steep hills and lots of speed work. Spin along with Counting Crows, the Goo Goo Dolls, and some 80s tunes that may bring back scary memories of big hair days.
John Raith
John has been teaching for 4 years. He and Tory have three kids, all of whom contribute to the business by washing and folding towels. Constantly. They love it. In addition to being quite a funny guy, he is committed to fitness and always has been. ”Teaching spin classes allows me to combine my passion for exercise with my love of music.” John plays as many sports as he can throughout the year and coaches all his kids sport teams because he’s a frustrated ex-athlete who’s been forced to live vicariously through his kids. Indoor cycling helps sublimate that tension.
Katie Seignethaler
Katie Seigenthaler has been leading rides at Spynergy since the turn of the century, and gets almost as big a charge out of mixing playlists as teaching classes. She encourages spinners of all ages and abilities to try out her class.
